Once a month, I plan to share with you my tips on “The Art of Entertaining”.
My goal is to help those of you who might hesitate to entertain, to do so with pride and confidence. For those of you who are already experienced party givers, I hope my ideas and suggestions will be interesting and helpful to you.
You can start small, inviting just a few close friends for a cookout, or maybe invite some neighbors for a wine and cheese tasting. Entertaining doesn’t have to be complicated. The most important thing is to provide a backdrop, or atmosphere where people can be relaxed and enjoy each other’s company.
Today we will begin with…
Getting in the Party Mood… The why, who, what, where, and when of your gathering!
So let’s get started!

Most decisions you will make about your party will depend on the WHY, or your reason for entertaining. It could be a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, graduation or holiday! For those of you who are new to entertaining, you may feel more comfortable starting with a small gathering of family, or close friends. For those of you with more experience and confidence, there will be ideas and tips on how to entertain more efficiently so you can be a guest at your own party and enjoy the company of your guests.
In the upcoming posts, we will actually plan a party, including invitations, menus, recipes, décor, and budget, complete with lists and timelines.
Since the holiday season is approaching faster than we think (it is still August and Costco already has Christmas decorations out!) I thought it would be fun to plan a Holiday Party.
Actually, we will do two… one for the novices, and another for the more experienced party planners!
